I hate it when people leave their blogs without saying goodbye. ;_; It’s just sad not knowing what happened.

So this is just a note to say that Dynamic Web 2008 is no longer being updated. I have no more use for it, now that I’ve passed and I have my Bachelor’s degree. Yay!

Nothing exciting this week.

I need more to do because I already have the Quiz and CMS bolted down… Well except making the quiz go to the next question and save answers.

I might also create user registration.

Because I still don’t know what the week number is. But does that really matter? What only matters is that I get my assignment done on time. Due by November 18th.

Ok, anyway. In the last class we looked at our SQL from last week and how to implement it into the iPhone quiz.

Once again the class time was spent working on assingments. Mine is finished! So now all that is left to do is to add a few aesthetic touches maybe.

Week 5

No lessons today, just workshopping the quizzes. I have made a start to mine, and have been given suggestions by Luke about making it more “advanced”. Everyone decided to do a personality test, but I already had my basic Q&A test already worked out. I’m looking at making mine work so that you can’t go backwards after choosing an answer. Maybe some other features, but I’m not sure.

Week 4

Today’s topic was sessions. Sessions are going to come in handy for this assignment and future ones. It was amazing how simple it is to set up a session, but it seems as though there’s more to it than that… Might have to investigate this.

The exercises looked at form validation and using sessions with forms, this will be very helpful with the quiz assignment.

Also Luke told us a bit about databases. I had a fairly clear idea what he was talking about, since I’ve looked at databases and used Access before, but haven’t really gone into SQL. I would do the subjects about databases, but that means doing a whole new degree. My BA MM degree is nearly over and I really should be earning money!

This Thursday’s class was all about forms, and it’s surprising how simple it is for PHP to collect data from a form.

Luke introduced us to the ecard brief, which is something I might have a try at. Also I think I have some ideas for my two quizzes.

Week 2

Today we were given an introduction to PHP which involved looking at print, echo and outputting variables. It wasn’t too exciting, but I guess everyone has to start with the basics.

We also looked at some dynamic html, which is one of the hottest things in web design these days. Pretty much all of deviantART.com’s navigation is done with Ajax. I feel tempted to do some Ajaxy stuff on my website and/or in the assignment, but I’m not sure what use to make of it. Maybe make the quiz questions change without changing pages?
